Not too late for gift-giving, and to have for Yourself!

Reading. Books. Goodies. Fun. Family. Food.

2 fun books filled with goodies and good things to "savor". I like the calendars at Workman, and this one particularly. It calls on me to imagine and remember what I/we were doing when these specific "things to be happy about" take place, the events (personal or cultural) that are associated with the thing listed. Much more than just a "happy laundry list." TRY IT!

THE BEST OF 14,000 THINGS TO BE HAPPY ABOUT CALENDAR 2006

By Barbara Ann Kipfer

Five reasons to smile, every day. Dogs with tennis balls. Grilled cheddar sandwiches. New pennies. A red cardinal in the snow. And the next day another five reasons.

Buoyant with good spirits and sunshine, the calendar is packed with the small amusements, spontaneous delights, and cozy comforts that push our happiness buttons.

Good ol’ peanut butter and jelly. An unexpected hug.
Leaving the day just a little better than it was.

AND, if you haven't had enough FOOD already! ... (I just couldn't resist!)

MOM'S BEST DESSERTS
100 Classic Treats that Taste As Good Now As They Did Then
Andrea Chesman,
Fran Raboff

Truly great American recipes that no home baker should be without.

For birthdays, a tall devil's food cake is still just the right thing. And during those precious weeks when fresh strawberries are available, who wants anything fancier than strawberry shortcake? Gingerbread cheers a friend home with the flu, and creamy rice pudding soothes the soul after a hard week at work.

It's all here: chocolate layer cakes, cherry cobbler, apple pandowdy, lemon meringue and chocolate cream pie, Indian pudding, gingerbread men, baked apple dumplings.

Enhanced with tidbits culled from three centuries of cookery.

Enjoy these Books and their Contents happily!
Remember, as we reach Christmas, Hannukah, Kwaanza, and the other Holidays, and enter in the New Year--
